As a connected operator, you can create, edit, and delete catalog rules.
- In the Operator portal, go to Products > Catalog Rules.
- Click + Create new rule.
- In the Create a new rule panel, select values for these fields:
- Attribute
- Condition
- Value
- Optionally, modify the default error message.
Note: The default error message is based on the values you selected from the Attribute, Condition, and Value fields, but you can still edit this default error message. - You can also select a Rule outcome for the products that are already online. These products that fail to meet the rule can either receive a Warning and remain online with a catalog rule error or be automatically taken offline by selecting Unpublish.
- Click Create rule.
- To verify that the rule has been successfully added, a message prompt that says "Rule has been successfully created!" displays.
- To edit the rule, click the pencil icon in the row of the catalog rule you need to edit.
- To delete a rule, click the delete icon in the row of the catalog rule you need to delete.
Impact of creating or updating catalog rules on existing products
If you add a new rule or edit an existing rule and this affects products already in the vetting queue, you can view these errors in Product Vetting to help you with the decision-making.
To review the products with catalog rule errors, go to Products > Product vetting and check the "Meet rules?" column. You can also set a filter to see only products with catalog rule errors.
If products and variants are already displayable, what happens depends on the rule outcome set for the catalog rule:
- Warning - Products will stay online, but sellers and operators will see a catalog rule error. The products will go back to the catalog rule validation process the next time they are taken offline due to some reasons such as no stock.
- Unpublish - Products that do not meet the rule will be unpublished (set to published=false), which will take the product offline. Sellers and operators will also be able to see a catalog rule error. Sellers will not be able to publish the product or variant until the catalog rule error is resolved.
