The Excel Category Sheets template simplifies the process of preparing product data for upload. Designed to handle large inventories, it reduces the effort of repetitive data entry while ensuring accuracy. Dynamically generated based on the seller’s product categories, the template includes pre-filled details and dropdown options that make it easy to navigate and complete.
Before you can edit the Excel Category Sheets template, you need to download it to your local device first. Learn more.
The spreadsheet has four key sections:
- Usage Guide sheet: Offers instructions on how to use the file. It also includes a "table of contents" listing all the dynamically generated category sheets.
- Missing Category sheet: Allows you to assign uncategorized products to the correct categories. Editing this is optional and can be completed anytime.
- Category sheets: Correspond to specific product categories and allow sellers to input details for their products. Category sheets are auto-generated, meaning it depends on your existing categories.
- Data sheet: A locked sheet containing reference data for consistent inputs. No action is required here.

Fill out a category sheet
-
Review category details:
- Each category sheet begins with a Category number and Category hierarchy (e.g., Home & Garden >> Household Appliances >> Cooling Fan >> General).
- These fields are system-generated and should not be modified.
-
Complete required fields:
- Fill in all columns marked with an asterisk (*) such as Ad ID, Product Name, and Brand.
- Ensure required fields are not left blank to avoid upload errors.
- Fill in all columns marked with an asterisk (*) such as Ad ID, Product Name, and Brand.
Note: To create a new product, enter "new" in the Ad ID* column. To create variants of a new product, enter "variant" in the Ad ID* column below the corresponding new product.
-
Both "new" and "variant" are case-sensitive and must be entered exactly as shown.
- The uploader uses these values to differentiate between new product creation and updates.
-
Use dropdown options:
- Select predefined values from dropdown menus for fields like Brand, Shipping Profile, and Country of Origin.
- Dropdowns pull values from the Data sheet for accuracy.
-
Manually input additional data:
- For fields without dropdowns, type the required details (e.g., SKU, Product Description).
- Check for typos or formatting errors before saving.
Add images
- Each product must have at least one image in the Image 1* column.
- Additional images can be added using Alt Image 2–20.
- Image fields must contain public URLs (thumbnails or non-public links are not supported).
- When uploading new images, all previous images for that product will be replaced.
Upload the completed template
- Return to Products > Bulk Upload Products.
- Click Upload File and select the updated Excel file.
