As part of our ongoing commitment to securing data on the Marketplacer platform, we are changing the way we manage passwords for members.
These changes will increase the security of the platform for all users and will be effective immediately for current and future passwords. Here is a summary of the changes:
- The minimum length of passwords has been increased and is now 10 characters.
- All passwords are now screened against a list of commonly used words. For example, this means that using password, 12345678, football, passw0rd, etc will be rejected.
- All passwords are also screened against a list of passwords known to have been compromised as reported by haveibeenpwned.com.
- Administrators will no longer be able to set or update the password for a member. Instead, an email will be sent to the member prompting them to set or reset their own password. This email will be sent to any new retailer member account created.
