We have the ability to define keywords or phrases to return specific brands or categories to improve the search-ability of your marketplace. For example, when a customer searches for 'Doc Martins' – currently there are no suggestions as the brand is named 'Dr Martins'. But, if we add 'Doc Martins' to the 'Dr Martins' brand, we can now return suggestions based on this alternative keyword.
This article provides all the details of how to assign an alternative keyword to an existing category.
1. Navigate to to 'Categorisation' -> 'Categories':
2. Find the category that you wish to add a search phrase for and click the edit icon:
3. Under 'Alternative search terms', you will see a field to specify up to five words or phrases. Simply type out your keyword or phrase and hit enter:
4. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click 'Update Category' to save the changes you have made.
5. That's it! Now, whenever a user searches this term or keyword, we can suggest the defined taxonomy
If you want to add an alternative keyword to a brand, follow the same steps but navigate to 'Brands' instead of 'Categories'.
