Promotional pages are Marketplacer’s term for landing pages.
They are customizable pages that are generally used to promote offers, products and brands, pages like “About Us”, “Terms and Conditions”, “Delivery and Returns” or any specialised aspect of the business put in place to promote sales.
They are part of the sales funnel and they can lead into other Landing Pages. It is important to first consider the key message you want to communicate on the Promo Page.
Below is our step by step guide on how to create and edit a Promotional Page. You can also watch our comprehensive video training here.
Promotional pages are accessible through the side menu bar, under Marketing → Promotional Pages.
Once in promotional pages, click “new” to create a new promotional page. You will need to give the page a title, create a slug (e.g. about-us) and add the starting date. Then simply click “add content”.
You will then see a drop down menu in which you are able to select block types to be used on the promo page. You can add a block by selecting the block type and clicking “Add Block”.
The following will run through the most frequently used block types - how they can be used, and what they are generally used for.
Editing Promotional and/or Home Pages
In order to edit/duplicate blocks on promotional pages, there are some icons that should first be explored. These are important to know how to use in order to both edit a page and build a page.
Eye icon: The first icon (the eye) is used to publish and unpublish the block. By clicking this icon the block will hide and unhide from the page on the front end. When the eye has a line through it it means the content in that block is not visible on the front end. When it does not (as pictured) the content is visible on the front end.
Pen Icon: The pen icon is used to edit the block. By clicking on this, it enables the user to edit anything within the content block.
Pages Icon: The pages icon allows the user to duplicate a block. This is useful is something needs to be repeated on the page - it can simply be duplicated through clicking on the icon.
Rubbish Bin Icon: The rubbish bin icon is the delete button. This icon completely removes the block. We suggest using the eye icon over deleting the block completely - this ensures assets and content do not get permanently lost.
Name & Type
The name and type of the content blocks are important to note. Using the above as an example, “type” is the type of block that is being used, while the “name” is the name that the user has decided to call the block. For example the block type might be text, but the name is called “section heading”. This allows parts of the page to be easily located through the name.
Hero Banner/Hero Search/Promotional Banner
Traditionally, Promo pages begin with adding a hero banner. In the dropdown, select “Hero Banner”. Select “new slide”. Here, you can add the image of your hero banner. If you are after a search bar on your Hero Banner, in the initial drop down menu instead select “Hero Search”. Follow the same process to upload the image. Hero images are generally set to “full screen width” this ensures the image extends the whole width of the page. However, any width can be chosen.
Hero Banner blocks are also used as promotional banners to include throughout the pages. The same process should be followed as aforementioned to add the image. However, promotional banners are generally set as 4/4 width so that the banner has a margin on each side of it. But again, any width can be selected. Additionally, links can be added under the “new slide” module beneath the image uploader - this enables the banner to become clickable and link to an /s page or another promotional page.
Text
Text is relatively straightforward - it is better as a general rule of thumb to use Text blocks when any type of text needs to be added to the page. This is because text blocks are able to be edited through the use of HTML, Markdown or CSS code. In order to change the font colour, font size and font family this simple code can be used:
<strong><p><font size="6" color="#5076BA" style="font-family:Roboto">INSERT TEXT HERE</font></p><strong>
Alternatively, font size can also be used on its own → <font size=”1”> for example.
**Note: Hex codes need to be used for the colour. Font size can be played around with until the desired size is achieved. Size 1 is the smallest font, while size 8 is the largest font.
Additionally - Breaks or spaces can be accomplished by using <br> → you can add multiple of these.
<strong> on either side of the text enables a bold, strong edit onto the text.
<h1> through to <h5> can be added on either ends of the text - this achieves heading sizes 1 through 5 - similar to word document headers.
** → This enables bold text
* → This enables italics text.
Further information pertaining to markdown, html and css can be found through Google search. Additionally, there is further information regarding markdown within the text block, beneath the text box.
Page Headings
Page Headings are straightforward - they are used as headings over text, icons, or on their own. They are unable to be customised like text can be. Page headings can be used by selecting the dropdown “page heading” and simply typing the desired heading and/or subheading under “heading” and “subheading”. The heading colour can then be chosen using a hex code. However, font and font size can not be chosen in this module.
Ad Tilesets
Ad Tilesets are simply an option to advertise your products on the promo or home page. Once selecting Ad Tilesets, you can choose the layout to either be on a slider or displayed as a grid. The ads can be inputted by entering the Ad ID under “Advert IDs”. e.g. (100000024)
Blog Tilesets
Similar to Ad tilesets, Blog tilesets are an option to advertise your blog articles on the home page or on promo pages. Once selecting Blog Tilset from the dropdown, you can choose the layout to either be on a slider or displayed as a grid. The blog articles can be inputted through their page slugs, under “News Slugs”.
Buttons
Buttons are used as a prompt for a customer to click through to a new page. Here, you can choose the alignment of the button and type in the button text. In ‘Button link’ you should input the link that the button should click through to.
Summary Lists
Summary Lists are generally used for category tiles, or clickable images that can take the customer to a different promo page or /s page. Tile images can be added through selecting “new item” and then uploading an image. A link can be added so that the image can become clickable - leading to other pages. A heading, text and button can also be added to these, however are optional.
This is generally how summary lists present on the front end of the website. *Note this example has been created with placeholders
