There are two Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) integration types. This topic is for Marketplacer customers who use Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) as their e-commerce platform. If you are a seller who uses Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) to provide products to Marketplacer customers, see Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) for Sellers.
The Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) e-commerce platform can be easily connected to Marketplacer, which enables you to expand your product range through Marketplacer.
To connect, install the Adobe Commerce Marketplacer Extension, and complete the setup and configuration tasks. For detailed instructions, see these articles:
- Install the Marketplacer Extension
- Connect Marketplacer and Adobe Commerce
- Set up and map products between platforms
- Test the data sync
How the Marketplacer Extension works
Integration support
We recommend you consult with one of our technical installation partners to help you set up and enable the connection if you do not have developer expertise in your existing team.
If you have a custom store theme
The extension is compatible with the default Luma theme. If you have a custom theme or Luma-themed with interface customizations, we recommend you work with an Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) Certified Developer or third-party to update your existing page templates to allow for new seller information.
Version compatibility
The Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) Marketplacer extension is tested for compatibility with the following:
- Adobe Commerce Cloud v2.4.1 and earlier
- Magento 2 Commerce Cloud Starter and Pro editions
If you use a different version, contact your Marketplacer customer support manager to check if the integration will work.
Data sync details
Once set up, the connection enables product, order, shipping, and other data to flow between the Marketplacer platform and Adobe Commerce. To learn more about the Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) integration synchronization details, see this article.
To enable seller and brand functions not currently available on the Adobe Commerce platform, new functionality is added during the integration process. This includes two additional menu items in the Stores module. For details, see Adobe Commerce integration: Synchronization details.
Key terms
Throughout the setup procedures, refer to these terms to be familiar with.
- Adobe Commerce (Magento 2): the e-commerce platform you are using.
- Marketplacer Extension: The extension that enables data to sync between Marketplacer and Adobe Commerce (Magento 2).
- Marketplacer: Our central platform for marketplace management.
- Sellers: Marketplacer sellers are third-party goods and services suppliers who can add products to the Marketplacer platform.
- Marketplacer GraphQL API: One of Marketplacer’s API frameworks that can be used to add functionality. For more details, see the Marketplacer API documentation.
Marketplacer VS. Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) terms
Some of the terms we use in Marketplacer are different from those used in Adobe Commerce (Magento 2). For example, Marketplacer – Adobe Commerce
Marketplacer | Adobe Commerce |
Taxon | Category |
Prototype | AttributeSet |
OptionType | Attribute |
OptionValue | Option |
Adverts | Configurable product |
Variant | Simple product |
Technical limitations
- Most Marketplacer-built connections support webhooks as a way of automating notifications between applications. For example, a webhook can be set up to send a notification from Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) to Marketplacer that an order has been placed. However, Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) does not support webhooks, so we have to use a different sync method that ‘polls’ the Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) server every 10 minutes to ask if any new order information is ready to be synced to Marketplacer.
- Product information for Marketplacer seller products must be managed through Marketplacer’s platform. Do not delete or modify Marketplacer products or sellers in Adobe Commerce (Magento 2)because this causes sync errors.
- Currently, the Marketplacer Extension does not support US tax calculations. However, if you use an order management system or other system that handles business rules for e-commerce, you might still be able to use the extension.
Not supported currently
The Adobe Commerce (Magento 2)-Marketplacer Extension does not support the following features.
- Inclusion of shipping prices: where shipping prices set in Marketplacer are synced to Adobe Commerce (Magento 2).
- Refunds and returns: where refunds and return requests made in Adobe Commerce (Magento 2) sync to Marketplacer.
- Order modification and cancellation: when a buyer updates or cancels their order in Adobe Commerce (Magento 2), it will update information in Marketplacer.
- Marketplacer platform promotions: created by sellers synced to Adobe Commerce (Magento 2).
- Support of sales tax calculation: by third-party extensions such as Avalara, Avatax, or Vertex. This will enable the integration to work in the US.
- Support pre-authorization and delay capture payments: for common payment gateway platforms used within Adobe Commerce (Magento 2).
