There are two Shopify integration types. This topic is for sellers who use Shopify to send product information to Marketplacer, as opposed to Marketplacer users who have Shopify Plus as their e-commerce management tool.
Once the integration is established, you can further modify the settings to refine the behavior of the integration.
- In the Seller portal, navigate to Settings in the Integration Manager.
- Refine the settings. You can follow the settings beliw (see below).
- To save the changes, select Update Settings.
Product Settings
-
Exclude brands - Enter the brand names to exclude from the import. This is blank by default. The spelling must match, but the comparison is not case-sensitive. You can only exclude brands after the initial import. Manually delete unwanted products (adverts) from Marketplacer once the brand is excluded.
- Best Practice: Exclude all brands that you know you don't want to sell on the marketplace, so that these items will not flow in through the integration automatically.
- Ignore barcodes - Select this option if you know that non-barcode data is present in the Barcode (UPC/EAN) field. This option is disabled by default.
-
Automatically publish products - Published products that are back off line because they are out of stock automatically become available again when the stock is replenished. This option is disabled by default. This setting does not change the need to correct validation errors on new products and variants before they can be published.
- Best Practice: Do not automatically publish products unless you're confident that all products coming in are products that have quality data and are ready to be sold on the marketplace. Manually publish products instead.
- Enable product imports - Automatic, scheduled imports of products are enabled if this option is selected. If this is unchecked, you need to import manually. This option is enabled by default.
-
Mark adverts and variants as inactive… - If the product or variant is inactive or absent in Shopify, then it is marked as inactive in Marketplacer when the stock level is set to 0. This option is enabled by default.
- Note: Do not enable this option if there are manually created products in Marketplacer that are not in Shopify for the seller, or if the seller imports product data from sources aside from Shopify.
-
Sync images, select:
- Disabled - Do not sync images. This setting will apply after the first import. Select this option if you want the images in Shopify and Marketplacer to be different for all products (adverts).
- Sync and preserve - Sync and keep any images manually added in Marketplacer. This is the default setting. Select this option if you want Marketplacer-specific images for some products.
- Sync and delete - Sync all images and replace the manually added images in Marketplacer. Select this option if you want to use the images in Shopify and Marketplacer to be the same for all products (adverts).
-
Remove links from description - When selected, HTML encoding is removed from the description field. You cannot publish products (adverts) with links in the description. This option removes them during the import. This option is disabled by default.
- Best practice: Enable this field if there are links in the product descriptions because products aren't able to be published unless they are removed.
-
Use information from the product database to create variants - The product database is a Marketplacer feature that helps you maintain a single set of product information across your sellers. This option is enabled by default. For information on the product database, see Product Database.
- Best Practice: Disable this setting unless you know that your marketplace is utilizing the product database.
- Allow matching against the product database via SKU field - Because the SKUs are not unique, enabling this option can cause data corruption if your SKUs match against multiple items in the product database, or if you use the same SKU twice for different items. This option is disabled by default.
- Category source - This setting allows you to specify which Shopify attribute is used to set the category in the marketplace. More information is available here.
-
Fields to sync -
- Barcode
- Stock
- Description
- Price
- Sale price
- SKU
- Title
The first import of a product or variant synchronizes all of these fields. These settings determine what happens in subsequent imports.
Order Settings
- Sync invoices to Shopify - Select this option to use Shopify to manage invoicing. Disable it if you are using manual invoicing or another invoicing method. This option is enabled by default.
- Order tags submitted to Shopify - Enter a comma-separated list of tags to be included on orders synced to Shopify. Each tag is limited to 40 characters in length. If this field is left blank, Marketplace is used as a default. This setting helps you identify the source of orders where there are multiple marketplaces placing orders. This field is blank by default.
- Exclude the customer’s email address on any orders sent through to Shopify - This options is used to prevent customer email details being added to mailing lists without permission. This option is disabled by default.
- Invoice Sync Start Date - If you enable synchronization of invoices, then only invoice created on or after this date is synchronized. The default date is the date today.
Inventory Settings
- Stock buffer value - The quantity to deduct from stock on hand to prevent oversell. This is a store-wide setting. This field is blank by default.
-
Only import new products that have stock - Products are not created in Marketplacer until they have stock on hand. If you turn this option off, then any products without stock in Shopify are created in Marketplacer in the next import. This option is disabled by default.
- Best Practice: Leave this option disabled to ensure that products without stock are not automatically imported, especially if you have auto-publish turned on.
-
Never set stock levels to be infinite, even if Shopify has it set - In Shopify, products can have infinite or unlimited stock. This option is disabled by default.
- If this setting is enabled, then the product (advert) is not published (0) or the stock level in Marketplacer is set to the overridden value in Shopify.
- If this setting is disabled, then the products (adverts) in Marketplacer have the unlimited stock flag set. Unlimited stock is appropriate for products such as gift cards.
- Best Practice: Disable this setting if there is a chance of products having infinite stock levels in Shopify, as there could be issues with products being sold on Marketplacer and being out of stock.
Configuration Settings
- Apply currency conversions - If you enabled currency conversions in the setup wizard, then this option is set. This option is disabled by default. If you change this option, you must do a full import to update all product pricing. Deselect the only process new products in the imports.
-
Inventory Mapping - A Shopify location ID. This field is blank by default. If set, stock levels are pulled from this location instead of the default Shopify location.
- Best Practice: Know where you'd like inventory to be pulled from and ensure the inventory is pulling from the appropriate location using this field.
- Apply GST to all imported products - Only applicable to accounts for Australian marketplaces. This option adds GST to the product pricing and is disabled by default. Only enable this if the product pricing does not include GST.
-
Failed import mail notification - If this option is enabled, then an automated email notification is sent to the marketplace operator in the event that an import fails. This option is disabled by default. If you leave this option disabled, you'll need to review the import information through the Integration Manager regularly.
- Best Practice: Enable this option to ensure you stay up-to-date on any failed imports.
