As part of signing up, you need to point a domain to your Marketplacer platform. The exact steps depend on your domain host. Marketplacer cannot access your third-party domain account, so you will need to complete this process with your provider.
Domain registration and DNS
Domain registration is the process of purchasing a domain (e.g. marketplacer.com) from a registrar. Popular registrars include GoDaddy, Netregistry, Crazy Domains, Namecheap, and Verisign.
Most registrars also offer DNS hosting as an optional service for domains registered with them. However, you are not required to use your registrar’s DNS hosting service. Read more about DNS here.
Connect your existing domain to Marketplacer
To connect your domain to Marketplacer, update your DNS settings to point to the correct server. You will also need to create a subdomain pointing to our staging server for testing or development environments.
- Log in to your domain provider account.
- Locate the DNS settings for the domain (usually under account admin, domain management, or DNS configuration).
- Edit your production CNAME record to point to the specified IP address.
- In your provider’s admin portal:
- Edit or create a CNAME record.
- Enter www as the record name.
- Enter your production server name as the CNAME destination.
- Save the record (e.g. click Save, Add Record, or similar).
Example: www CNAME to domainname.marketplacer.com
Contact your domain provider if you need further assistance.
Note: It may take up to 48 hours for DNS changes to propagate. If you encounter issues, contact your provider for assistance with your third-party domain.
