If vetting is enabled for a seller, the Marketplacer platform checks for existing variants with the same barcode as any of the variants in the products undergoing vetting. This checks barcodes on all variants in the marketplace, irrespective of status.
Product Vetting screen
A product with a variant that has a barcode identified as a possible duplicate will be listed on the Product Vetting screen with a warning indication beside the product image and hover text that indicates "This may be a duplicate product".
We say "may" because we make allowance for this being a data entry error.
Note: If a product has been previously approved, then the triangle warning sign will no longer show for the subsequent duplicate products.
Vetting detail screen
The vetting detail screen will also indicate the duplicate barcode.
To view the product with the duplicate barcode
- Scroll down to Variant Details
- Select the variant link under Products with duplicate barcodes.
- The product opens in a new tab. Follow the business processes that apply to the marketplace to address this warning.
