Note: This article applies to the Legacy Bulk Product Uploader. For the latest version, see Bulk product management (V2).
Due to the amount of details required to upload and manage products this way, errors can occur. Here are some of the most common errors and how to fix them.
Spaces, typos and capitalization
You need to type the names of things exactly in the spreadsheet. If there are spaces, special characters or spelling mistakes in your spreadsheet, errors can occur.
A common error is where the capitalization of Category names, Option Types, Option Values, Brands, etc, do not match the predefined values defined in the marketplace. Eg. The category is Beds but, on the spreadsheet, the category is listed as Bed or beds,
This also occurs with Sale Types. Check with the marketplace operator about the specific categories and names, amend the spreadsheet and try uploading again.
Mapping issues
If the categories in column Type, Type 1, Type 2, etc are not mapped correctly or in full, then an error will occur. You can try to fix the errors manually in the spreadsheet and upload again, or else use the mapping tool in the Seller Portal.
Brand does not exist
Brands need to exist in the marketplace already for the product information to upload correctly. Ask the marketplace operator to create the brand and upload again.
Option types
Option types must already exist in the marketplace for the product to upload correctly. Check the option type or ask the operator to create it, then try again.
Image issues
Here’s some common problems with image upload.
- The image is not a complete URL or has been deleted from the source.
- The image is stored on a private computer, closed server, or behind a firewall.
- The image is a preview of the image (e.g. a thumbnail) or a page that embeds the image, instead of the image URL. If you are using Dropbox replace the part of the URL that says "dl=0" with "raw=1". If you are unsure, look up Dropbox documentation for creating direct links.
