When a seller creates or updates a product, the system checks if it meets defined catalog rules. If the product or any of its variants fail these checks, the seller must correct the errors before the product can proceed. The process then branches based on whether operator vetting is required:
- If vetting is required: The product is reviewed for approval. Products that fail vetting must be updated by the seller based on feedback and then re-checked against the catalog rules. Only products that pass the rules (and vetting) are published to the marketplace.
- If vetting is not required: Products that pass the catalog rules immediately go live.
However, if a seller updates a product that is not currently displayed, the product is automatically sent back to the validation process to ensure it still meets all catalog rule requirements before it can be displayed.
The operators can also select a Rule outcome for the products that are already online. These products that fail to meet the rule can either receive a Warning and remain online with a catalog rule error or be automatically taken offline by selecting Unpublish.
