Your marketplace may handle IAN (TGA)-regulated products.
- IAN stands for Ingredients, Allergens, Nutrition.
- TGA refers to the Therapeutic Goods Administration.
You can use catalog rules to enforce mandatory IAN (TGA) attributes. This ensures sellers provide key product information, like ingredients, allergens, or nutrition, whenever they submit or update products.
Using category-specific catalog rules, operators can apply these requirements at either:
- the parent category level (e.g., Food, Beverage & Tobacco), or
- the child category level (e.g., Food, Beverage & Tobacco > Soda).
IAN (TGA) attributes you can enforce
Operators can create rules using the following variant-level IAN (TGA) attributes:
- Variant allergens
- Variant allergens may be present
- Variant consumer medical information
- Variant directions
- Variant health warnings
- Variant ingredients
- Variant nutrition information
- Variant product warnings
- Variant storage instructions
- Variant suitable for
Note: These attributes can only be validated with the Present condition.
Create IAN (TGA)-specific catalog rule
- In the Operator portal, navigate to ADVERTS > Catalog rules.
- Click +Create a new rule.
- Select one of the IAN (TGA) variant attributes.
- Set the condition.
- In Add categories, choose either:
- A parent category (applies to all products within that category).
- A child category (applies only to products in the selected subcategory).
- Click Create rule to save.
Notes:
- The Categories field is optional. If you don’t select a category, the rule will apply across all categories by default.
- Editing a category-specific catalog rule is not yet supported. To make changes, delete the existing rule and create a new one for that category.
Examples
Example 1: Require ingredients for food products
An Operator wants all products under the Food, Beverage & Tobacco parent category to include ingredients.
- Attribute: Variant ingredients
- Condition: Present (must be present)
- Add categories: Food, Beverage & Tobacco
This creates the rule: Variant ingredients must be present for all Food products.
Example 2: Require health warnings for soda products (Child category)
Building on the previous example: Soda is a child category of Food, Beverage & Tobacco.
If the Operator wants all soda products to include a health warning, they can create an additional child-category rule:
- Attribute: Variant health warnings
- Condition: Present (must be present)
- Add categories: Food, Beverage & Tobacco > Soda
This creates the rule: Variant health warnings must be present for soda products.
Important: Because Soda is a child category of Food, Beverage & Tobacco, products in Soda must also comply with the parent rule (Variant ingredients must be present). That means:
- A Soda product must have Variant ingredients (parent rule).
- A Soda product must also have Variant health warnings (child rule).
If either requirement is missing, the product will be flagged for catalog rule errors.
