Golden Products can be used to help you achieve different objectives. To support different use cases, golden products can be configured in multiple ways.

Automatically create golden Product and Variant records from new variants with unique barcodes
If you enable this setting, the system automatically creates a Golden Product and Variant when a seller creates a new variant with a unique barcode (one that does not match any existing Golden Variant in the Central Product Database).
For the new Golden Variant, the system decides which Golden Product it should belong to:
- If the variant’s advert is already mapped to a product, the new variant is created under that product.
- If not, the system:
- Looks for sibling variants in the same advert with a barcode match and assigns them to the same product.
- If no sibling match is found, it searches the CPD for a product with a matching title, brand, and taxon. If none exists, it creates a new Golden Product.
Create new Golden Products and Variants with an active status
Select this option so the newly created products and variants are automatically set to Active. Golden Products and Variants are set to Draft status if this option is deselected. This option is enabled by default.
Automatically link matching variants to Golden Products and Variants
If you select this option, newly created variants are linked to a Golden Variant given that the variant’s barcode matches the barcode of an existing Golden Variant.
For more information on which actions trigger automatic creation or linking of Golden Records, learn more here.
Enforce strict barcode rules for Golden Variants
When enabled, a barcode is required for every Golden Variant. Only one barcode is allowed per variant, and barcode uniqueness is enforced across the CPD.
Enable propagation of seller updates to Golden Records
When the source seller changes their advert, the Golden Record is automatically updated.
Enable Golden Record data source fallback
If the source seller’s advert is deleted, the Golden Record is reassigned to the next oldest linked advert.
Operators can manually change the source seller at any time. Learn more.
Restrict barcode updates on variants linked to Golden Variants
When enabled, the seller cannot change or remove the barcode on any variant that is linked to a Golden Variant. This prevents accidental unlinking and preserves product matching integrity across the platform.
