AI assisted CPD matching helps catch incorrect barcode matches before a seller product links to a Golden Record in the Central Product Database (CPD). When a seller product has a barcode that matches a Golden Record, Marketplacer uses AI semantic matching to check whether the product details look like the same item.
If the AI finds a mismatch, the product is flagged as a suggestion to inform the seller of mismatches.
When this feature runs
AI assisted matching runs when all of these conditions are met:
- The advert is not the source advert.
- A variant barcode is present.
- The advert variant has a corresponding Golden Product variant in CPD, and the barcodes match.
Note: If you can’t see AI assisted matching results, your account may not have the required configuration enabled yet. Contact Marketplacer Support and ask them to enable the AI assisted CPD matching configuration for your marketplace.
What the AI compares
When barcodes match, the AI compares key fields between the seller product and the Golden Record, including:
- Product title
- Product description
- Product brand
- Images (product or variant image)
- Other variant level fields, including variant option types
Semantic Match Verdicts and what they mean
The AI returns a simple verdict to keep the workflow clear:
- Same: The product matches the Golden Record. The seller can continue toward publishing (subject to normal vetting rules).
- Different: The product does not match the Golden Record. The seller can still publish, but we recommend they resolve the discrepancy.
- Processing: The AI Match for the product is still processing.
What operators see
Operators can review AI assisted matching results in the Operator Portal during vetting. Learn more.
What sellers see
Sellers see the result on the Manage Products page using status messages such as:
- AI is currently processing the product. Please come back later.
- The AI found a potential mismatch in this product.
- No product mismatches found.
If a mismatch is flagged, sellers should review the compared fields and update their product details so they match the item tied to the barcode.
