Shippit is a shipping and logistics aggregation service within Australia. Marketplacer has an integration that lets a seller connect their marketplace account to Shippit.
This integration:
- Provides shoppers with time and cost effective shipping options at checkout.
- Lets sellers print labels and book couriers directly from the seller portal.
If you need more information regarding Shippit, or the shipping rates that can be used, we suggest you reach out to your account representative, via the Shippit Portal.
You can also request a demo.
Shipping Rates
The seller has two options for setting shipping rates used by the integration.
- Flat Rates: The shipping rates set via the seller portal are offered to the shopper. For example, a seller can set a flat rate or a price for a specific product. All orders are sent to Shippit and use the default courier they have configured within the Shippit portal.
- Calculated Rates: The shopper enters the shipment address at checkout. This information is passed to Shippit, and based on the configured carriers within the Shippit portal will return a "Cheapest" and "Fastest" option, as well as an estimated delivery window. The rate and time window is calculated based on the couriers and methods set up within Shippit.
Note: The default package size used by Shippit is a 500g satchel.
Priority shipment
The seller can configure a "Priority shipment rule" within Shippit, if this is done, and a shopper selects the fastest option at checkout, the courier is booked immediately, and the only options for the seller are to cancel the shipment or download a shipment label.
Label generation and booking
Once an order has been placed, you can print labels and book orders via the seller portal. For each line item:
- Print shipment label: Clicking on Downloading shipment label will generate a PDF of the required label that the seller needs to affix to the packed items.
- Book shipment: Clicking on Book shipment will confirm the order and notify the courier to come to the seller's location to collect the goods. This option is unavailable if a priority shipment rule is configured in Shippit.
- Cancel shipment: Clicking on Cancel Shipment will void the shipment, this can be used in the case where an item is not going to be delivered via Shippit.
- Discard shipment: If an item has been fulfilled outside of Shippit and it's not possible to cancel the shipment in Shippit, the shipment can be discarded and the order can be dispatched manually in Marketplacer. The main difference to cancelling a shipment is, that discarding a shipment breaks the link with Shippit, i.e. no updates will be synched in either direction. Once a shipment has been discarded the link with Shippit cannot be reestablished.
Shipment changes
If changes are required to the shipment, for example selecting a different courier, the seller will need to take this action within the Shippit application. Shippit does not support changes to orders via the API, so the order needs to be cancelled in the seller portal and manually dispatched with information from the new order created in Shippit.
Shipment tracking in the seller portal
There are many shipment status settings. The status "In Transit" indicates that the order has been collected by the courier. When an order reaches this status, it is removed from the outstanding orders section of the seller portal.
