This article is for setting up and configuring your commission packages. Go here to set up your commission rules.
Operators can get granular when creating commission packages. Go to Configuration > Commission Packages where you can:
- Set the marketplace default commission
- Create a new commission package
- Edit a commission package
- Delete a commission package
- Duplicate a commission package
- Add custom rates to packages
Set the marketplace default commission package
When starting your marketplace, a default package with a base commission value of 5% is automatically created. Operators can edit the default commission rate to set their own commission value.
- Sign in to the operator portal.
- Go to Configuration > Commission Packages.
- Find the package tagged as default in its package name and select the pencil edit icon. The edit window appears.
- Make changes to the fields you want to modify.
- Select Save.
Sellers assigned to a different package other than the default commission package are not affected by changes to the default package.
Create a new commission package
- Sign in to the operator portal.
- Go to Configuration > Commission Packages.
- Select Create package. The create package window will appear.
- Package Name: Give your package a name.
- Default Rate: Give your package a default rate. Sellers assigned with this package get their commission rate from the value you enter here.
- Apply commission on line item postage: Toggle if you want to apply commission on line item postage.
- Add custom rate: Click this button if you want to add custom rates.
- Select Create package.
Edit a commission package
- Sign in to the operator portal.
- Go to Configuration > Commission Packages.
- Find the package you want to edit and select the pencil edit icon. The edit window appears.
- Make changes to the fields you want to modify.
- Select Save.
Duplicate a commission package
- Sign in to the operator portal.
- Go to Configuration > Commission Packages.
- Find the package you want to duplicate and select the copy icon (
). The duplicate window appears.
- Give your copy a new package name.
- Select Save.
Delete a commission package
- Sign in to the operator portal.
- Go to Configuration > Commission Packages.
- Find the package you want to delete and select the trash icon.
- Select Delete in the confirmation popup window.
Note: You can select from the dropdown which package you want to reassign a seller to if the package you’re deleting is assigned to sellers.
Add custom rates to packages
Custom rates are assigned at a per-category level. This means your commission package will still have a default rate.
For example, you can set a custom base rate of 20% for skincare and have a default rate of 10% for everything else. Every skincare product sold will give the seller a 20% commission, while everything else will give the seller a 10% commission.
- Sign in to the operator portal.
- Go to Configuration > Commission Packages.
- Find the package you want to edit and select the pencil edit icon. The edit window appears.
- Select Add custom rate. The Add Custom Rate window appears.
- Add rate for different price point: Check this box if you want to add a rate for a different price point (optional).
- Custom base rate: Enter a value here for the custom rate.
- Select Categories: Select from the dropdown which category you want to apply the custom rate to. Drilldown to select a subcategory.
- Select Save.
Add a rate for a different price point
You can add custom commission rates when items in a selected category exceed a certain price point. For example, you might want to assign a custom base rate of 15% for items equal to or under $100. For items over $100, you can set a secondary custom rate of 10%.
- Sign in to the operator portal.
- Go to Configuration > Commission Packages.
- Find the package you want to edit and select the pencil edit icon. The edit window appears.
- Select Add custom rate. The Add Custom Rate window appears.
- Check the Add rate for different price point box.
- Custom base rate: Enter a value here for the custom rate.
- Price: Enter the price point that triggers the secondary custom rate.
- Secondary custom rate: Enter the value for the commission rate of items over the price you set.
- Select Categories: Select from the dropdown which category you want to apply the custom rate to. Drilldown to select a subcategory.
- Select Save.
