If you’re seeing the error “The following adverts are not valid for resubmit: [Ad ID]” during a bulk upload, this guide will help you resolve the issue.
What does this error mean?
This error occurs when the Resubmit for Vetting column in your upload file is set to "Yes" for adverts that are not in the correct state for resubmission.
Common scenarios where this error occurs
- The advert is already vetted and online: Adverts that are approved and live cannot be resubmitted for vetting.
- The advert is unpublished: Only published adverts are eligible for vetting.
Common causes
- Adverts already online or vetted: These adverts don’t need to be resubmitted.
- Unpublished adverts: Adverts must be published before they can be resubmitted for vetting.
- Unrecognized column headers: Your file may have column names that the system doesn’t recognize.
- Missing required information: Some fields might be incomplete or incorrect.
How to fix it
Check your column headers
Ensure the column headers in your file are correct. Use Resubmit for Vetting with the exact capitalization. Avoid incorrect headers like resubmit_for_vetting or anything flagged as !! Unrecognized heading !!.
Filter for adverts that need resubmitting
Go to the Manage Products screen in the Seller Portal and use the filter Rejected via Vetting? Export only those adverts that were rejected and are ready for resubmission. Include these columns in your export:
- Ad ID
- Variant ID
- Publish Advert
- Publish Variant
- Resubmit for Vetting
- Vetting Rejected Reason
Double-check advert statuses
Open your file and check the Resubmit for Vetting column.
- Set this to "Yes" only for adverts that were rejected and are ready for vetting.
- Ensure that the adverts are published.
- Skip adverts that are already online or vetted.
Fix the file and re-upload
Update your file with only the adverts that meet the criteria for resubmission. Go to the Bulk Upload Products screen in the Seller Portal and upload the corrected file. This should process without errors.
